Ralex was founded by Rafael Herscovici, a passionate machine engineer who immigrated to Israel to fulfill his lifelong dream. From the age of 11, Herscovici was fascinated by the world of automobiles. He immersed himself in books and articles, eager to uncover the secrets of high-performance vehicles and one day contribute to the international automobile industry.
Herscovici pursued his mechanical studies at the prestigious Technological Institute in St. Petersburg, Russia. After completing his education, he became the manager of the central Lada garage in Chisinau, Moldova, where he specialized in preparing professional rally cars for Lada and Fiat.
In 1974, he immigrated to Israel with a vision of advancing the country’s automotive industry and sharing his expertise. A year later, he established Ralex Auto Service in Ashdod. What began as a modest operation quickly gained recognition among Israeli automotive professionals. Ralex soon became the trusted service provider for owners of Alfa Romeo, Volvo, BMW, and Lancia vehicles.
Over the past 50 years, Ralex has grown into a respected leader in the industry, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and a dedicated team of experts, many of whom have been with the company for over two decades. Today, Ralex offers a comprehensive range of automotive services. As an authorized Toyota sub-agency, the company provides complete repair and maintenance solutions, original accessories, and environmentally friendly car painting services. Ralex also specializes in the restoration of classic and antique cars, earning the prestigious Rank-One award in the Chrysler USA Classic Car Repair Competition in 1996.
Ralex’s commitment to excellence extends beyond service quality. The company is recognized by the Israel Standards Institute and upholds the highest industry standards, including ISO 9001 for quality management and ISO 14000 (2008) for environmental responsibility. Ralex’s dedication to sustainability is evident in its use of eco-friendly water-based paints, which minimize environmental impact. In 1986, the company was honored with a commendation from “The Beautiful Land of Israel” society for operating the most aesthetically designed and environmentally responsible garage in the country.
None of this success would have been possible without Ralex’s culture of teamwork and collaboration—its greatest strength. From its early days, Rafi Herscovici worked closely with renowned international experts, including W. Johansson, Chief Engineer of Volvo, and Lipman Uri, one of Israel’s top Alfa Romeo specialists. The company also benefited from partnerships with Jimmy Driver and the Chief Engineer of Citroën. These collaborations have shaped Ralex into a hub of professionalism, innovation, and excellence.
Today, Ralex continues to lead the automotive industry, combining decades of expertise with a commitment to progress and sustainability, ensuring that every vehicle receives the highest standard of care.
We conduct a comprehensive test to measure friction and tire ovality over a 1 km distance. Additionally, we assess brake integrity and sensitivity, ensuring seamless interaction between the axles and braking system.
When there is a risk of chassis damage, an authorized laboratory from the Ministry of Transport conducts specialized tests. These tests diagnose critical chassis points, validate their condition against manufacturer guidelines, and ensure structural integrity remains unchanged.
For vehicles affected by rear or front axle damage or uneven tire wear, we perform precise tire angle and ovality assessments using advanced sensors, ensuring optimal alignment and driving stability.
Our emissions test evaluates a vehicle’s environmental impact by measuring pollutant levels. To pass the annual inspection, vehicles must meet stringent air pollution standards, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
Using cutting-edge technology, we connect a diagnostic computer to the vehicle to quickly detect malfunctions, pinpoint their exact location, and identify potential causes.
This system provides real-time data on crucial vehicle components, including compression levels, battery charge, alternator performance, and more, ensuring optimal vehicle health.
