Why is this automobile, made by the famous Swedish car manufacturer Volvo, called the “Amazon”? It’s difficult to say. Someone once called it by this name and others picked up on it quickly. This car was very popular in the United States in the 1960s. Even while development of this car was taking place, the engineers attempted to create an automobile with increased safety, stability against impact, and higher damage tolerance. The car fulfilled their hopes and expectations.

In November of 1999, the RALEX Autoservice garage was visited by a banking executive from Nes Ziona. He had heard many positive things about the restoration work taking place at the Ralex Autoservice garage under the direction of Rafi Hershkovich. He brought along not only the car for restoration, which was actually in better shape than many of the cars that had been restored at the garage, but also many spare parts and various accessories, which had been sent to him from Sweden.
The work on the VOLVO - AMAZON proceeded systematically and without any sudden surprises. The body was straightened, welded, and then hard putty and filler were applied. It was then painted and the small finishing touches were put on… At the beginning of 2000, the automobile, which had just turned 40 years old, returned to the road as if it had just come off the manufacturing belt.
